Dental hygiene is very important in every dentist’s office making the use of dental autoclaves very important. The role of dry heat autoclaves in dentistry cut across to make most of the dental tools safe and hygienic for reuse. It utilizes the dry heat to sterilize items and instruments that are used for dental care. Items that can be damaged by steam sterilizers are handled perfectly by the dry heat from autoclaves. It’s perfect since it uses dry heat during the sterilization process instead of the steam that is very common.
Dry heat autoclaves are more cost-effective when used for the sterilization process. The use of dry heat autoclave may be less effective when it’s used to sterilize many items at the same time since it won’t penetrate perfectly to reach every part.
It works under high temperature to generate high heat that used for the process and it has less corrosion on the items being sterilized. To make the process perfect for all the dentistry items, forced-air and static-air are the two main types of dry-heat sterilizers that are used.
Which technique does dry heat autoclaves use?
All the dry-heat sterilizer uses a different technique to make sure heat circulates perfectly on the chamber where items are set. Static-air is common among for dentistry hygiene and is commonly known as the oven-type. It’s designed with heat coil at the bottom that helps in the generation of heat that makes it work perfectly. Once the heat has been generated from the bottom, it rises through natural convention to cover the entire chamber.
Forced-air is also referred to as the rapid heat-transfer and works equally perfect during the sterilization process. It works more effectively since the hot air is made to move at a high velocity on the chamber to reach the intended items. The time needed to sterilize using forced-air is shorter hence its recommended for a quick sterilization.
